Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Research Assistant
The interview process is pretty thorough. They want to chat about what you know about the job, look at your past work, talk about the pay, and go over what you'll be doing. It's all about seeing if you're a good fit, not just skill-wise, but also with the company vibe. They want to make sure you're not only qualified but also someone who'll be a good addition to the team.
- Tell me about your understanding of this job role and your previous experience.
- Can you elaborate on your past work experience and how it relates to this role?
Research Assistant
First, you meet with the professors to chat about research ideas and your interests. If a professor likes what they hear, they might offer you an interview. After that, if all goes well, you'll get an offer and then there's a background check. The whole thing is pretty straightforward and well-organized.
- Can you discuss your academic history and what research topics you're keen on?
Research Assistant
It's a lot of research, data collection, and just plain hard work. You gotta do some deep research on the problem they give you. Then, you need to prep a powerpoint and present it. The interview isn't over in one day, it can stretch out for up to two weeks, during which time you gotta finish the task.
- For the given problem statements, gather data and prepare a PowerPoint presentation.
