First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tevora.
Cybersecurity Intern
I only did the first round for this role. The listing had typos, which was a bit of a warning sign. I was told I'd get a response in a few weeks, but then they just ghosted me. The interview itself was alright. They asked me to write a report, which I did, and I still never heard back. It's pretty unprofessional to ghost someone after an interview, but to ask me to write a report and then ghost me is ridiculous.
- Were you asked to write a technical report?
Consultant
It started with a phone screening where they asked some behavioral questions. Then I had a writing prompt. After that, I interviewed with a hiring manager. The final step was an interview with the director of SOC, which covered a lot of behavioral stuff and cybersecurity knowledge, like firewalls. You just gotta know your stuff. A downside was that they took a while to get back, so I had to keep chasing them.
- What values are important to you in a workplace and in your work?
- Can you describe how you stay updated on cybersecurity news?
- What do you know about cybersecurity topics like firewalls?
Account Director
I was first contacted by the recruiter, Samaiyah, who was great. After two virtual interviews, including one with a sales engineer, they flew me to Irvine for four hours of in-person interviews. These included meetings with account managers, the VP of Sales, Steve, and the CEO. Steve seemed like a great manager I could succeed under. The CEO was sharp but seemed skeptical of my resume. They asked for references. The salary offered was acceptable. Their lead gen strategies and events sounded appealing.
- What relationships do you have with CSOs that can lead to quick meetings?
- What are your current shortcomings in your present role?
Intern
I interviewed for an intern position focused on pen testing. I didn't have pen testing experience on my resume, but I did have developer experience. The interview felt like the recruiter was just showing off and belittling my background because I'm not a pen tester. He even bragged about handling a heavier course load in college than me, pointing out that I didn't have paid experience for my first two semesters, even though I had a lot of extracurricular projects. He still felt the need to put me down. I now work in cybersecurity for a more recognized company, and I've never encountered such an unprofessional recruiter as the one at Tevora. If you have confidence issues, don't take them out on the candidates.
- Given that I managed to handle more responsibilities in college, what prevented you from doing the same?
