It was okay, but the pay wasn't great. Basically, you spend your day testing games, some of which are cool and others not so much. It's a decent gig for a student needing some extra cash while they're at university. The work isn't stressful and doesn't really offer much in terms of career advancement.

The interview process was pretty straightforward. There were two or three language tests, depending on the language you were applying for, where I had to find and fix grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors. The next part was a discussion about my expectations for the role, my previous QA experience, and any gaming experience I had. After I accepted the job offer, I was supposed to do two days of remote training. However, on the training day, I didn't get any follow-up info or links, and I ended up wasting a morning trying to get this from the recruiter. Because of this, I've withdrawn my application, which was really frustrating and a total waste of my time.

This was a super disappointing interview experience. They actually invited me to interview with 20 other people at the same time, which says a lot about their approach. I've never seen a company do that before; usually, they can make time to talk to you individually. But not here. Then, they handed me this really poorly designed language test: 5 sentences to translate using specific gaming terms, but they gave absolutely no context. It felt like a joke. As someone who has translated games before, all my previous clients gave me context for the translations, and they understood how important it is. Here, you can't be sure what you're even translating, and they expect this to measure your language skills?

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what games you like to play?
  • Translate these 5 sentences which include specialized gaming industry vocabulary. No context will be provided.
