First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Teradyne.
Field Application Engineer
There are 2 stages for the interview. The first stage is with a team leader who will test you on some technical questions, like coding algorithms, debugging, and how you handle problems. The second stage is a manager interview, where they will ask questions like why you want to join us and if you know what the company does.
- Can you explain linear and binary algorithms?
- Do you understand basic test theory?
- How would you implement a tool for quickly renaming files in a folder?
Field Applications Engineer
Gave my resume at the career fair and got called directly for an on-site interview. There was no phone interview. It was 5 rounds of interviews at their location, lasting about 5-6 hours total. The first interview was basic stuff like how you manage time and report on large data. The second was about software, asking for C/C++ basics and asking me to write basic loops and conditions in C++. The third was technical, where they drew their tester circuit and asked me what the different components do. The fourth was also technical, focusing on RF/Analog, asking about filters, circuit drawing, and modulation types like AM and FM. The fifth was about my education and projects from my resume, and the work I do at my previous job.
- Can you explain what the different components in their tester circuit diagram do?
- Could you explain filters and draw related circuits?
- Can you explain modulation types like AM and FM?
Applications Engineer
The interview process had 3 rounds total. The first was with HR. The second was a technical coding round where they asked easy questions on programming and circuit fundamentals. The third was the final round with 4 people. One interviewer seemed to have forgotten about the meeting and was sleeping, joining the Zoom call 30 minutes late, which was very unprofessional. The whole process felt like a high school exam due to the very specific technical questions asked.
- Can you code in C?
- Tell me about transistors.
- Tell me about diodes.
