Account Manager
I was initially really excited about interviewing with Tenstreet, but that excitement faded about five minutes into the phone screening. It quickly became clear that I was just another number to help the recruiter hit their KPI. While the recruiter wasn't rude, my 10 years in Sales told me they weren't really engaged. You can tell by the tone, cadence, and type of questions asked how interested someone is, and I knew within five minutes that this was a waste of my time. I don't think I'm perfect, but I figured I was at least worthy of a second interview. I brought up case studies from your website, explained your service offerings, and even shared my thoughts on client engagement and expanding your core 'Pre-Hire Marketing / Recruiting Services'. My guess is either this role isn't a real priority right now, or you already had a late-stage candidate and just needed to meet recruiting goals. My advice: don't waste people's time just to meet recruiting metrics.
- Can you tell me about your past experiences?
- Could you discuss your thoughts on how to work with clients and grow our Pre-Hire Marketing / Recruiting Services?
- Can you talk about some of the case studies on our website?
Account Manager
First interview was a 25 min phone call to talk about the position and get to know me with one person from the Tenstreet Team. Second interview was more in-depth and lasted 85 min with two people from the Tenstreet Team.
- Can you tell me about a time you helped a client resolve a problem?
- Describe a situation where you had to overcome an issue for a client to make the situation better.
Account Manager
I got a message on LinkedIn from a recruiter, then I had an interview with one of the hiring managers and someone from the account management team. The interview went for over an hour and a half and they asked a ton of questions. Some of the questions really caught me off guard and were pretty tough to answer. I've never been asked "what makes you mad" before in an interview, and it didn't seem super relevant for a first interview. Also, I've never had a first interview that was longer than an hour and a half. It felt like a bit much for this early stage.
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
- What makes you angry?
- How do you deal with things that make you angry?
