Sales Advisor
I applied online and got a call back after three weeks for a phone interview. It was pretty relaxed and short, mostly discussing personal stuff and if I could work in the UK. After that, I was invited for a face-to-face interview at the store with the manager. Two people interviewed me, and it was generally relaxed with sales-type questions. The interview lasted about 30 minutes, then I had to do a sales role-play which was easy to understand and finish. I had plenty of time to get ready for it. I think I did okay, but they went with someone else who was a better skill match, probably because I didn't have a super strong sales background. I heard back about their decision a week later.
- Tell me about a new idea you implemented, how you went about it, what the result was, and if you encountered any resistance from your manager.
- What do you think is the best way to approach customers?
- Can you give an instance where you disagreed with leadership and challenged them, and what happened as a result?

I applied online and a few days later, I got called for a telephone interview. It was mostly about checking I could work in the UK and if I had experience talking to people. They said I passed and invited me to a in-person interview that was about forty minutes. Normally, there's a role-play part, but the interviewer didn't like that, so instead, I just chatted with some of the current advisors. They wanted to get a feel for my personality and how I'd fit in with the store. The phone interviewer missed asking my age. Since I'm only 17, I need someone else to supervise me when selling contracts, which could have been an issue.
- Tell me about a time you had to change your approach to collaborate with someone.
- Can you share an instance where you worked towards a specific objective?
Sales Advisor
It was pretty standard, with the usual questions like 'Tell me about a time you showed good customer service,' 'When did you have to manage your time effectively?' and 'Describe a new idea you had that was put into action.' Then, there was a role-play part where I got to look over O2's basic information, like their plan costs. After that, I did a role-play with the manager, trying to sell them an O2 contract or plan. The manager was nice and professional the whole way through, but HR was the problem. They took over TWO WEEKS to call me back! Even when I called to check in, they said they'd call Monday, but I didn't hear back until Thursday. It might seem like a small thing, but it's tough when you're really hoping for the job and constantly waiting for that call.
- Can you share an instance where you showed your organizational abilities?
