Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Telefónica.
Delivery Manager
It started with an HR phone call, then moved to technical interviews which were quite long and half were in English. The first interview was with potential teammates, and the next one seemed to be with the department director. The downside is the process takes a long time, almost two months in total. You also have to prepare for "typical" questions that I don't usually prepare for. The upside is that thanks to this, I learned a lot about what to expect in the future, so even as training, it's worth it.
- What would your first day at Telefónica look like?
- If I asked someone who worked with you what GOOD thing they would say about you, what would it be?
- If I asked someone who worked with you what BAD thing they would say about you, what would it be?
Commercial Manager
It was professional, with cases. The hiring manager had a clear idea of what they were looking for and had prepared a case study to test if candidates would understand the job. The case tests various aspects, such as expertise, presentation skills, and financial knowledge.
- Please prepare a case study using PowerPoint and bring it with you to the interview.
Manager
I applied online for this Manager role at O2 in Slough. Within a few days, I got an email and a call for a phone interview with HR. After some back and forth, we scheduled the phone interview. It covered my background, some behavioral questions, and the technical aspects of the job. The HR person didn't seem to know the specifics of the role, but I passed and was invited for a face-to-face interview. That interview was tough. The hiring managers were looking for skills not mentioned in the job ad. They had a long list of standard questions and seemed rushed, not letting me think before answering. Because of the pressure, I struggled with one question, felt cornered, and they offered no help. It felt like an ambush, and I was so annoyed that I withdrew my application, regretting the time spent.
- Tell me about a time you did something specific.
- Can you give an instance of when you accomplished X?
- Could you describe the technical requirements associated with this position?
