Inside Sales Representative
The interview experience was not great. The interviewer did not introduce themselves or offer any details about the company, themselves, or the position. Instead, they immediately started asking behavioral questions. After about 30 minutes, I still had no information about the role, what was expected, the salary, or any training provided. The interviewer seemed unwilling to share any details about the job and appeared annoyed when I asked questions.
- Could you start by telling me about yourself?
- Can you share an instance where you exceeded expectations to assist a customer?
- What are your primary motivators?
Inside Sales Representative
I got contacted by a recruiter and after saying I was interested, we set up a time to chat. He called when we scheduled and told me more about the role. If I was still interested, he said he'd send me to the next interview. The next interview was a couple days later on zoom, where they went into more detail about the position. He said he was happy with how it went and wanted to move me to the final interview. My last zoom call was with the hiring manager and assistant manager. A few days after that, I got a call offering me the job. It all took about 2 weeks.
- Tell me about a key learning from your experience in insurance.
Sales Representative
This hiring process is long, taking about 30 days to get an offer and another 45 days before you'd start. It kicks off with a phone call, then an in-person meeting with the Sales Director, followed by a panel interview with the Sales Director, HR, and a Sales Rep. They actually ask the same questions in every interview, which felt repetitive and like a waste of time. The panel interview was particularly odd because the Sales Rep who interviewed me wasn't really equipped for it, only asking two questions before wrapping up in under 20 minutes. The whole thing took so long I accepted another offer; this company wanted me to do a job shadow and then another interview just to make sure I liked the role, which seemed excessive for what's essentially an Allstate agency that just has a big marketing budget.
- How would you handle customer objections?
