A recruiter reached out to me. Then I had an interview with TECK talent Acquisition. After that, there was a personality test, followed by an interview with the manager and finally with the team members. I felt like all interviews went well, but I probably wasn't the right fit because of some of my answers.

I was contacted by a recruiter to apply. The entire process was friendly and clear until the final interview. The team seemed to prefer a specific personality type and might not be very open to diversity. I think people who see themselves as different or 'mavericks' would fit in better. Dressing too formally, like in a buttoned shirt, might not be the best approach, which is interesting because usually that personality type struggles in large, traditional companies, but maybe that's the direction they're heading with RACE21.

So I interviewed for the Race21 Efficiency Program. It started with a phone screen with the internal recruiter, which was actually one of the better ones I've had. They asked the usual 'Tell me about yourself' stuff but also drilled down into specific Agile processes for prioritizing work and asked for case scenarios about dealing with team members and stakeholders. The recruiter really seemed to get the role and answered my questions well. They also clearly laid out the next steps and sent more info via email. But then things went downhill FAST with the hiring manager. It was the worst interview ever, seriously. The person had zero leadership skills, was super condescending, and frankly, misogynist. They actually said things like 'we have to hire women' and complained about not having time to mentor because of 30 reports to write. Kept harping on about how well Teck Systems pays, too. Overall negative experience because of that second part.
