Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Techstars.
Operations Associate
It was a quick interview, with 3 calls with 3 different people. I spoke with the MD and two associates. Mostly behavioral questions, but since it was for a temporary role, I didn't expect many questions.
- What makes you interested in this role?
Operations Associate
The hiring process involved a structured application followed by two interview rounds. The first round was a spontaneous motivational/behavioral chat, and if successful, candidates moved to a take-home event planning assignment. The whole process was very fast, wrapping up in just one week. The first interview was requested on the same day without prior notice. Communication wasn't the best and felt a bit cold, despite the hiring team emphasizing their intense work environment and helping core values.
- Which tools would you employ for organization?
Operations Associate
I had a Zoom interview on a Wednesday with the Program Manager I'd be working with and the department head. The interview with the Program Manager went well, but the Head of Department was trying to grill me. They said I'd hear back by the end of the week, but I didn't get any updates for three months. Today, I finally got a generic rejection email from Greenhouse. It was really unprofessional to leave me hanging for so long and not send a personal email from the interviewers.
- Can you walk me through your resume?
- Can you describe your project management skills?
- Can you describe your skills with collaboration tools?
