First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Technip.
Design Engineer
I applied through my university and the whole process took 3 days. I interviewed at Technip KT India in Delhi, India in September 2012. There was a Technical + Aptitude Written test. The aptitude section was very easy, and I was asked 1 GK question. The technical questions were mainly from SOM and Fluids. Then there was a technical interview on Engineering Materials and one more subject of your choice. Lastly, an HR interview where they asked about the field I am interested in.
- Tell me about your internship experience.
- What is your internship experience?
- Can you describe your internship experience?
Design Engineer
You'll get a call and email to schedule the interview. They'll ask for a lot of personal details in a form, which might be uncomfortable if you're not selected. First, there's a Technical round, likely with the Group Leader, or sometimes the HOD if the leader is busy. If you don't meet the minimum criteria, you'll be sent home. If you're eligible, you'll move to the HR round. This HR round is short, maybe five minutes, and they'll ask simple questions about your hobbies, why you're leaving your current company, and then jump straight to expected salary. Regardless of the outcome, they'll let you know the next day if you're selected.
- Can you tell me about your past experience?
- Could you walk me through the fundamental stages of the design process?
- What do you like to do in your free time?
Senior Design Engineer
I got a call from the consultant and my CV was shortlisted. I had a telephonic interview that got postponed 3 times. The interview focused on my previous profile and mechanical packages I've handled. I had to give a brief intro of my work in each package. They were looking for people with experience in particular equipment, which I have. There was no f2f interview.
- What steps would you take to evaluate a vendor's offer for packages with which you have no prior experience?
- Could you elaborate on your experience with previous profiles and the mechanical packages you've worked with?
- Please provide a brief overview of your work for each package you've handled.
