First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Technicolor.
Software Engineer
The role was for a Python developer in the Bangalore office, and all interviews were conducted online. There were two technical rounds. The first technical round focused on in-depth Python concepts, along with some Docker and CI/CD knowledge, all based on the CV. The second technical round leaned more towards system design. Following these, there was a managerial round with the manager and tech development head, which included behavioral questions primarily about handling work situations.
- Could you tell me about Python basics?
- Explain memory management in Python.
- What are OOPS concepts in Python?
Software Engineer
The interview process at Technicolor involves several stages, but unfortunately, they lack basic ethics and respect for candidates. It starts with a phone call, where the HR might mention it's an urgent opening. Afterward, you're invited to their office for a written test focusing on bug fixing, followed by a panel interview. If the written test is satisfactory, the panel interview proceeds. However, the panel interview is extremely challenging, with interviewers who seem to believe they possess all knowledge and ask questions with answers only they know, disregarding the candidate's profile. They might even probe into protocols you haven't listed, expecting a complete answer. The interview duration can be quite long and unpredictable, depending on the interviewer. Don't assume a longer interview means a higher chance of selection; they compare candidates extensively and delay results. I don't believe the time invested is worthwhile for such a company.
- The written test covers Arrays of all types, Strings, Data structures, and Pointers, including bug fixing to identify logical errors.
Software Developer
The interview process was completed in a single day. It began with a written test consisting of 20 C questions, 10 aptitude questions, and 10 networking questions. There was a penalty of 0.5 marks for each incorrect answer. Following this, there was a technical round, the nature of which depended on the candidate's performance in the written test. Finally, an HR round was conducted. The company's representatives were punctual and maintained a calm demeanor throughout the day. They started the written test promptly at 9:45 AM as scheduled. While the results were being evaluated, candidates were engaged with a presentation and a video about the company. Unfortunately, I was not selected to proceed to the next stage.
