I applied for this position in Outbrain's new San Francisco office. I was initially contacted by a senior HR representative from the NYC office who asked some basic questions and was very friendly. It was a pretty easy interview and lasted about 20 minutes. Next, I spoke with an Account Strategist based in the San Francisco office. She was also very nice and accommodating. The interview felt more like a conversation and it was easy to talk freely. Unfortunately, Outbrain never contacted me back after these two rounds. I tried to reach out to HR but never got a response or an update on my application. It was unprofessional not to update my status, and it seems others have had similar experiences. It all felt very unreliable, and I wouldn't have accepted an offer given the negative impression the experience left.

Behavioral Technical

I applied online and heard back about two weeks later for a phone interview with HR. It was about 30 minutes, and she was really nice, super enthusiastic. She mostly talked about the job and asked about what I've done before. Then, I had a Skype interview with someone I'd be working with. It wasn't too hard, mostly talking about my past experience and how it connects to this role. That was also about 30 minutes. Overall, it was a good experience with Outbrain, except I was told HR would contact me about next steps and never heard anything. I get they weren't moving forward, but it's better not to say I'll hear about next steps if that's not going to happen.

Behavioral Technical Case

I was contacted by a recruiter via email, and then had a first skype call with her where we discussed my motivation and skills for the role, as well as my current salary. The second interview was an onsite meeting with the local team, which was a friendly chat about the daily work, my likes, and expectations for the job. They also shared more details about the role. Following that, I had a skype call with the international account director, who focused on problem-solving questions related to campaign management and key metrics, asking how to assess campaign progress and decide on actions based on performance data. The final interview was a skype call with the managing director. Interestingly, he focused on my motivation and expectations, and encouraged me to ask questions. Even though I didn't get the offer, this was a very insightful interview for me.
