First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Teaching Strategies.
Project Manager
The interview was pretty straightforward: a phone screen, a virtual meeting, and then a final panel chat. Everyone I talked to was really nice and seemed to know their stuff. They asked straightforward questions about how I handle project management and also shared some useful info about the team and the job. The whole thing moved along fast, and they kept me in the loop really well throughout.
- When juggling several projects that all have close deadlines, how do you decide what to tackle first?
Partner Success Specialist
After applying for a while, I got an interview for the Partner Success Specialist role thanks to a referral. The interview was remote, and it involved common interview questions. However, the hiring manager seemed really distracted during the interview, which was offputting. I felt like I wouldn't get a second interview right away.
- Could you tell me about your biggest weakness?
- How do you go about structuring your remote workday?
Account Specialist
Had an initial chat with the recruiter first. Then, the first interview was with the sales manager, and he was really focused on critical thinking and effective communication, asking a mix of thinking questions and a few sales questions. The final interview was with the department lead, and those questions were more sales-focused. Overall, the process wasn't too bad or intimidating.
- What would your dream job be, knowing that 'teaching strategies' isn't a valid answer?
- Can you elaborate on your critical thinking abilities?
- How would you describe your communication effectiveness?
Legal Affairs Coordinator
I got contacted on June 4, 2018, to set up a phone interview, and was told to email my availability for the next several days. I sent my availability within 30 mins, but then got another email asking for my availability the following week. After five emails going back and forth, my interview was scheduled for the next week. On the day of the phone interview, I waited 15 minutes and then contacted them because I hadn't received a call, only to find out they called the wrong number. They wanted to reschedule for later that week, but after 15 minutes, it still couldn't happen. I was asked to provide my availability for the following week again. After four more emails, the call was scheduled for the next week. The interview itself was for a role that was basically a secretary/assistant/receptionist position, despite the boosted title. The interviewer described a role that was the opposite of the job description, looking for someone who wouldn't rock the boat and would work under a micromanaged system. She then read a prepared statement and said qualifications weren't as important as fitting into their 'clown car,' all with a terrible attitude. It's been over a month since the initial contact and weeks since the phone interview, and I haven't heard back.
- Would you be willing to accept the position as it was described, which differed from the original job posting?
