Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Teacher Retirement System of Texas.
Analyst
The ENRI team conducted a 3-part interview process. It started with a behavioral screening, followed by an in-person behavioral interview with the whole team, and concluded with a case study. The team was really friendly, making it a good experience. I especially liked the case study; it was open-ended and really let me explore how I'd approach and frame a problem without strict guidelines.
- Can you describe past team dynamics?
- Share an experience from your past.
- What drives you to apply for this role, and specifically, why are you interested in TRS?
Analyst
It was personalized and technical, and moved pretty fast. There were 2-3 rounds, and each one had technical questions. The whole process, including offers, was quick. The interviewers were friendly and receptive to questions. Each interview had at least three people present.
- Tell me about general finance topics.
- What is currently happening in the economy?
Analyst
I had an initial phone screen and then got a case study to work on. TRS reviewed my case study and invited me to a follow-up discussion. After chasing them for 3 weeks, I was rejected by someone from admin I never talked to during the process.
- What sparks your interest in TRS?
- Do you have any specific industries or sectors you're drawn to?
- Would you rather focus on fund of funds or principal investing?
