The manager expressed concerns about whether an entry-level role would be sufficiently challenging for me, noting that younger professionals often switch jobs frequently. He mentioned his previous entry-level hire primarily did reporting and questioned my interest in this specific position, seeming to steer me away from it throughout the conversation.

I dropped off my resume with HR, and they got back to me for an interview. They also have a career section on their website, though I'm not sure if it's active in every country. I met with the HR Manager, and also a few other managers from different departments like Production, Tool Shop, and Quality. Finally, I had a meeting with the Plant Manager, the Quality Manager, and the HR Manager. You need to know English, and speaking German is a plus.

First I had a call with HR that lasted at least 30 minutes, where they asked the typical initial questions like why I'm looking and my current salary. Since they were eager to hire, I got a phone interview with the hiring manager a couple days later. It was supposed to be 30 minutes but went for an hour and a half. The hiring manager asked a lot of questions, covering both technical and personality aspects. It went so well that he invited me for an onsite interview. The onsite involved meeting three people, with HR being the last. HR then asked if I'd accept a $10K pay cut, revealing that was the maximum offer, which I declined because it was actually a $25K pay cut from my current role. Two days later, I received an email stating I didn't get the job because I wasn't deemed 'technical enough'.
