Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at TE Connectivity.
Product Manager
Applied online. Heard back from the recruiter after 4 weeks. First, a 1-hour screening call with the Talent Acquisition Lead, which involved a resume review and one product-related behavioral question. Then, a 1-hour interview with the Hiring Manager for Global Product Management - Data and Devices. This included behavioral questions and questions about the product development lifecycle, with 2-3 follow-ups for each question. The focus was heavily on P&L and financial responsibility, specifically budgeting, finance, and cost reduction, rather than product development, innovation, customer pain points, or the product life cycle. My impression from the follow-ups was that there might be significant cost-cutting and budget freezes across various business units, which made me decide against joining even if offered. I followed up twice after the second round, but the recruiter became unresponsive. Never heard back, which was a very negative and disappointing experience.
- How can you effectively manage and increase the Gross Profit Margin for the product portfolio?
- Can you outline the complete product development process, providing a specific example?
- Tell me about how you handle and resolve priority conflicts.
Product Manager Intern
It was a pretty relaxed interview process. Mostly focused on my past experiences and behavioral questions. They also asked about my major, what I'm interested in, and why I want to be a product manager. We talked about my major, minor, and any previous team project experiences. The interview was just with the hiring manager.
- What sparked your interest in this particular role?
Product Manager
It was a conversational interview, but they asked a lot of questions to get to know me and the experience I bring. They asked about what I think will be challenging, why I'm interested in this role, and what my goals are.
- What are your career goals for the short and long term?
