& Process

The interview process had a technical and functional round which was of average difficulty. It was conducted well, but there were long waits between the rounds. The technical part was with someone experienced in the automotive industry.

The whole process took about a month. I thought it was a bit much doing so many on-site interviews, especially since the interviewer was joining from the US via video. I questioned the need to take days off work to go to TE's offices just to join a video call. But the main issue with TE wasn't the interviews. I did get a written offer, but it surprisingly had no salary details! Instead, every financial item just said 'in line with company policy'. When I asked for clarification on this policy, I kept getting conflicting or unclear answers. For example, regarding a car: first they said no, then yes with an allowance, then no allowance but a car, and finally that my manager would decide. This happened with the bonus and health insurance too. Because of all this uncertainty, I turned down the offer. When I called to let them know, they said they were going to withdraw it anyway, claiming I was only interested in the money. I didn't even bother replying. Felt like I dodged a bullet.

I was contacted by an internal recruiter on Linkedin for the Manager position. The interview process involved 3 phone interviews, one of which was directly with the hiring manager. Following the phone interviews, I had onsite 1:1 interviews with VPs and Directors. The recruiter was helpful initially but became unresponsive after I went for the in-person interviews. After two weeks of no communication, I reached out to learn the feedback was that I hadn't provided enough specific examples. My perception was that the questions were hypothetical, asking what I would do to help TE's current GM with a specific challenge. The recruiter mentioned I was still on the active list while they interviewed other candidates, which felt unhelpful. Given I had another offer, I asked to be removed from their list. The recruiting process lacked clarity and consistency, with the recruiter unsure about next steps and internal standards. This uncertainty and lack of clear answers about interview types (introductory vs. behavioral) reflected poorly on the company. Additionally, despite the hiring manager promising a definitive answer within 2-3 days after the face-to-face interviews, there were two weeks of silence. A simple update, even a rejection, would have been appreciated given the time invested.
