The interview process had two stages. First, I spoke with the HR manager, and then the second stage was with the hiring manager. It was more of a two-way conversation, which made it easier to answer everything clearly.

The interview process was quite long. First, there was a phone screening with HR to make sure I was qualified. After that, I had two interviews with two different managers. Then, I had to complete a technical assignment, and I might have had to walk the managers through it if they asked. HR emailed me the offer after they decided they wanted to hire me.

The HR gave me the impression that my application was not taken seriously. On the day of the interview, I had to even remind her if she is going to proceed with it as 15 mins into the agreed timing , there was no news from her. Mind you, I had to be discreet about my interview and maintain my composure while in office . Secondly, throughout the session I could sense her disinterest from her tone which made the interview unpleasant. I understand there is an overwhelming response to the job post but really there is no need for that since it is part of the HR's job to find a suitable candidate. On top of that, even though I had experience in a large scale project and working with users of various hierarchies, she disregarded the fact that I do have stakeholder management. The company is only keen with those who have demonstrated experienced with the set of tools they are using and is unwilling to consider someone who is willing to learn and even master it. Different companies use different tools. So even though they stated that "advanced Excel, Powerpoint ,Tableau, Klipfolio, Qlik, R, SPSS would be preferred" in their job ad, if you do not fulfil these criteria, you will not be considered. It is a shame as those who are really interested in the job and willing to go the extra mile in acquiring the knowledge to do so will not even be looked at simply because they do not tick ALL the boxes.
