Account Specialist
The hiring manager asked me to do a roleplay where I had to sell something I'm interested in. They also asked me some basic questions to verify my experience and some behavioural questions like what are my strengths and weaknesses and how I would handle conflicts with my colleagues.
- Could you sell me something you're passionate about?
- What are your strengths?
- What are your weaknesses?

Just because your interviewer wants to get to know you, that doesn't mean they're your friend. Remember that you're not venting in the pub after a hard day in the office, you're trying to impress a hiring manager. Launching into a tirade about grievances with your boss or employer – broken promises, slights against your ability, lack of respect – will only paint you as someone who likes to complain. Who's to say you won't be the same at another company?
- What's your reason for leaving your current job?
Account Specialist
I got an interview through a recruiter. I was interviewed by one of the team leaders. She asked the classic question of sell me this pen. I asked how I did on the question and we went through my thought process. She said the company is fast-pace etc. just like about most interviews where they brief about the company and I said ok. Feedback comes “doesn’t have the drive to perform in fast-pace environment”. Hello how does the interviewer know? Well I do thrive in face pace environment and I asked for feedback and received nothing so far. Update: After emailing, received updates from them. They changed the feedback which was different from the initial feedback. I don't know how sincere they are in their feedbacks for candidates. Second, it is perfectly fine for interviewer to turn off the camera as long as they have "a valid reason". However we all know when a candidate for interview turns off the camera what happens.
- On a phone call, could you try to sell me this pen?
