Senior Quality Engineer
it started with a telephonic round that was mostly behavioral questions based on my resume and it was easy. Then there was a technical round. If I got selected from those, the next step was an interview with the client.
- Can you write a Java method to extract only special characters from a string containing alphabets, digits, and special characters?
- How would you write a single SQL query to toggle the 'attendance' column in an employee table, switching 'absent' to 'present' and 'present' to 'absent'?
- Describe the process of dragging and dropping an image between two iframes, where one iframe contains the image and the other does not.
UAT Tester
The whole thing took over 6 months, started back in September. Felt like I was constantly repeating myself because different people kept asking for the same info. It's super obvious there's no communication between teams there, and honestly, their behavior was really unprofessional. The HR folks, whether they were local Canadian or from India, asked for a bunch of personal and invasive details via email – like 60-70% of it is illegal to ask in Canada. The first part was with HR, just confirming background, if I was a good fit, and salary stuff. Then, radio silence for months. The second interview was with someone who didn't even bother to introduce themselves. They just called out of the blue and started the interview without any warning, agenda, or even saying which team they were from. No greetings, no 'how are you,' nothing. Didn't even check if it was a good time to talk. Seriously, worst interview experience in my 7+ years. Honestly, I'm relieved I didn't get an offer, dodged a bullet.
- Can you walk me through the entire UAT process and its typical format?
Manual QA Tester
You start by submitting your resume and cover letter online. Then, recruiters will screen your application to see if you're a good fit. If you pass that, there's usually an initial HR or hiring manager interview to talk about your background and why you want the job. Sometimes there are skill tests involved. After that, you might have a second interview with more senior people to talk about your technical skills and how you'd handle certain situations. The final stage could be meeting with executives or the team to check if you'd fit in well. Before they offer you the job, they'll check your references and do a background check. If all goes well, you get a formal offer with details on pay and stuff. Once you accept, they'll get you onboarded.
- Can you explain what software testing is and its significance? What is manual testing, and how does it contrast with automated testing?
- What are the definitions of test cases and test scenarios?
- Could you describe the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)?
