Graduate Scheme
I was invited to a video interview, which I thought was a bit odd as a company should ideally take the time to at least phone or video call you. The interview had about 6 questions, where I had 30 seconds to think about my answer and then 2 minutes to speak. It felt like an unnatural setting, like a US Presidential Debate. Twice, the 2 minutes for speaking was cut short to about 40 seconds, so I had to rush my answers and couldn't give the full context. It was a bit ridiculous, and the recruiter, Zoe, was also unresponsive and rude. I don't think she has the right skills for HR. Overall, it felt like a waste of time, and maybe it's for the best that I didn't continue with the process. The initial interview experience gave me a bad impression of Taylor Wimpey's culture.

Graduate Trainee
The whole recruitment process was lengthy but very thorough. It consisted of: - General online application - 2-minute Video Interview (Based on answering two given questions) - Telephone interview (Competency based questions, the interviewer was friendly) - Online assessment - Group Assessment Centre (consisted of presentation from current graduate trainees and senior members, a group presentation and individual presentation) - Final Interview (individual interview followed by interview by two senior members of the company) I felt that the whole application and interview process was very well organized. There was a lot of feedback given and communication at each stage of the interview which overall aided to the positive experience of the interviews. I received my offer soon after the final stage and I am very much looking forward to starting a career with Taylor Wimpey in September.

Graduate Scheme
The application process started with a standard form and a short video recording in December 2018. About a week later, I had a telephone interview, which was nice because I could talk to someone directly. This really showed that Taylor Wimpey wants to get to know candidates, which was a theme throughout. The telephone interview went well and put me at ease for the next step. After that, we were invited to an assessment centre. There, we got information about the scheme and talked to previous graduates to really understand the role and company culture. We did a group exercise and then a presentation on a case study given that day, followed by an informal interview. Everyone was very friendly and made us feel comfortable. If successful, you then have an interview, and they provide helpful feedback from the assessment day to help you prepare. Before the interview, you're given a question to prepare and present. Joe from HR was brilliant and called before and after the interview to check in, which was really helpful for nerves. My interview was productive and enjoyable because it was semi-formal, allowing me to really understand the company. The interviewers were friendly and asked about me, my ambitions, and what Taylor Wimpey offers graduates. It's important to ask questions because they always get answered. I got the job offer and accepted. I liked the graduate scheme, but the company culture (friendly and open) and having all my questions answered really made a positive impact. I highly recommend applying because everyone is nice and they want to bring out the best in candidates.
