Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tata Steel.
Environmental Engineer
The interview process was very organised and professional. I was kept informed throughout the interview and offer process by the recruiting manager. They weren't that flexible regarding working hours or the ability to allow part-time work.
- Do you have knowledge about relevant environmental legislation?
Civil Engineer
Got a call for the interview on the date. They already decided to hire me based on my education. So, it was a friendly chat. Mostly discussed salary expectations. I asked for 50000INR but they suggested settling for INR45000 per month.
- What is your expected salary?
- Will you accept INR 45000 per month?
Civil Engineer
First, there was an online assessment with two parts: an aptitude test for quant, logic, and verbal skills, and a technical test for your specific engineering knowledge. Then, a technical interview where they asked core subject questions and discussed practical applications and your projects/internships. Finally, an HR interview focused on behavioral questions and situational scenarios to check your fit and decision-making.
- Tell me about your internship project.
- What about your academic background?
- Can you describe your personality?
