Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Target Australia.
Sales Assistant
We kicked things off with a group activity, which involved us playing a game where we had to come up with different uses for everyday objects, like a pen. After that, we broke into groups and then I had my one-on-one interviews.
- Can you tell me about one of your weaknesses?
Sales Assistant
It was quick and simple and the interviewers made me feel very relaxed and listened to. Questions were about how I would handle the situations customer service people commonly get into such as what to do with a difficult customer etc. I was also asked what I thought about the Target store itself and if there was anything new I noticed or loved. I answered the new Kmart product merge letting us have those products as well since our town doesn't have Kmart. Just look at common behavioural questions for customer service and sales assistants and you will be fine, Also 100% look at what you love about the store and its values, really check out the website because they will ask why you want to work there specifically and love target over other places.
- What do you love about our Target store specifically?
- What makes you love Target?
Sales Assistant
Got an interview invite through the application site for a specific day and time. It was a group interview with about 10 people. We did some simple group tasks so the interviewer could see how we'd fit in. After that, I had a one-on-one chat with the interviewer where they asked easy questions about my availability and school. The whole thing took much longer than I thought, over 2 hours. I found out about a week later through an automated email from their system.
- How would you work in a group to address a certain scenario?
- What are two true things and one lie about yourself that you'd share in a group setting?
- Can you tell me something about yourself?
