Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Taptap Send.
Software Engineer
I had a preliminary call with a recruiter. They asked me about my present job and some general stuff. It wasn't a technical interview, but they did inquire about the technologies I'm familiar with.
- Can you share an instance when you navigated a difficult work scenario?
Senior Software Engineer
The first step was a non-technical screening with two interviewers. They were nice enough, but the experience was bad because they really pushed to know my salary expectations and said the offer would be firm. They were really aggressive about getting a specific number from me in that first round. When I asked about the bad reviews on Glassdoor, they just blamed the people who wrote them, saying they weren't a good fit. The job description mentioned a bunch of different languages, but when I asked which ones were actually needed, they weren't sure and said all of them were required, even though they're totally different. The recruiter got defensive when I asked these questions, basically implying I wasn't a good fit. The next round was with the hiring manager, who was great and asked normal questions, but I didn't get past that.
- What salary would you be OK with?
- What salary are you OK with?
- What is an acceptable salary for you?
Software Engineer
The interview process had 6 steps: Recruiter Phone Screen, Experience Interview, Systems Design, Coding, Product/Cross Functional, and Executive Interview. It was pretty straightforward. The coding problem was reasonable and collaborative. The Systems design problem was interesting and open-form. All interviewers were collaborative and supportive. The recruiter was very helpful and friendly. They were willing to accommodate an additional "coffee chat" and meeting with an executive after the offer was given.
- Tell me about a time a decision you were involved in did not turn out the way you expected.
