First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Taphandles.
Social Media Coordinator
Started with an online questionnaire, then had a phone screening with HR. This was followed by a Zoom interview with HR. Next, there was an in-person interview with HR where I had to do an email assessment, followed by an interview with the CEO. Finally, there was a Zoom interview with the team members.
- Tell me about a challenging phone call you had.
Marketing Associate
Applied online and had to answer some creative/situational/experience questions along with submitting my CV. Got a call back a few days later to set up a Skype interview with HR. It was a pretty easy and direct interview, the HR person was very personable and we had a casual chat. Towards the end of the Skype call, they asked about my availability for the next week and said I'd hear back in 2 days to confirm a date to come in. Never heard back, so I followed up and was informed they were proceeding with other candidates. It felt unprofessional and confusing to me, and honestly, I wouldn't want to work somewhere where this is the standard.
- On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your Excel experience?
Project Manager
I applied through Craigslist and answered some questions along with submitting my resume. The next step was an interview with HR via Skype, which was conversational and included many 'rate yourself' type questions. I found out the role wasn't marketing/sales focused, but more about 'delivery', involving managing data, customer service, and production/shipping schedules. The starting salary was $40K, with potential to reach $45K-$50K in 2-3 years. After that, I had a situational email task where I had to respond as if to customers. I noticed some critical information was missing from the emails. I decided to respectfully decline the role at this point because it wasn't what I was looking for. The subsequent steps would have been an interview with the Director of Operations and two Project Managers, followed by a final interview with two sales team members and the CEO.
- How would you describe yourself in three words or qualities?
- What kind of company culture are you seeking?
- Are you able to communicate in any other languages?
Production Designer
Went through three interviews. First was a casual chat with a recruiter for the design team, over a beer, to see what I was looking for. The second interview was with two designers, more of a vibe check to see if I fit their playful, collaborative office environment with beer, games, and music. The third interview was a more formal one with a marketing director, where they asked the toughest questions.
- How do you imagine our taphandles are manufactured?
- In what ways can you contribute to our team?
