Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at TAP ADVISORS.
Investment Banking Analyst
The first two rounds were technical interviews focusing on accounting and valuation. The second round also included a couple of behavioral questions. The Superday had four interviews: two with the co-founders and two with other managing directors. No technical questions were asked in the Superday, but they wanted to know my motivations for the role.
- Could you tell me what the beta of a coin flip is?
- What exactly is equity value?
- And what is enterprise value?
Investment Banking Analyst
Had a first phone call interview, they asked me to walk through my resume, then they asked 3 technical questions: walk me through a DCF, when to use each type of valuation, and what the equation for WACC was.
- What is the equation for WACC?
Investment Banking Associate
went through a few rounds of interviews: first just a phone call, then a face to face with some MDs/EDs, then met with other banking team folks, and finally had to do a take home test for financial modelling and valuation.
- Can you discuss valuation methodologies?
- How do the three financial statements connect?
