First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tanium.
Software Engineer Intern
First, I had a recruiter phone call, and then there were two technical interviews and a behavioral one. The behavioral interview was about 30 minutes, and the technical interviews were each an hour long. The technicals involved easy/medium LeetCode problems, and the behavioral one was pretty standard, asking me to go deep into my past experiences from my resume. Things seemed to go well, but then the company totally ghosted me after the final round. It was super unprofessional not to get any response back.
- Tell me about your experience with LeetCode problem 1306.
- What's your approach to solving LeetCode problem 917?
- Could you elaborate on those problems after discussing 1306 and 917?
Software Engineer
The interview and offer process was quick. There were three pretty informal behavioral interviews, a system design interview, and a basic technical question that could be extended. Everyone was quite friendly and willing to answer questions. The interviews with director and VP showed they were pretty technical which was fantastic! The recruiters seemed very busy because I was interacting with three people. They couldn't match another offer I had and seemed to have little wiggle room with comp/title/perks like WFH.
- Can you design a system that is similar to Tanium's endpoint monitoring system?
Software Engineer
The interview process included a couple of recruiter calls, then two technical screens, followed by two more behavioral interviews. A lot of the interviewers were a few minutes late and apologized saying they got caught up with work. They also seemed disinterested and only started looking at my resume during the interview, which was clear from the questions they asked. The recruiter never gave me any feedback after the final interviews, which felt really unprofessional.
