I had my first round with one of the principals for this position via MS Teams. I was excited beforehand because Tandem works in humanitarian efforts, and I wanted to contribute to helping people with illnesses. I was expecting more professional conduct during the interview, but the interviewer ate during the meeting and left at least 3 times. She also seemed eager to finish early and unprepared, asking out-of-context questions. As an experienced leader interviewer, this was surprising. She asked, 'If code does not ready for testing, what should you do?' I asked for clarification twice, but she didn't explain. My question is, if code isn't ready, what can QA do? Code not ready implies it's not in the QA environment, making testing impossible. It was quite amusing. I'm providing feedback for the first time because I believe this humanitarian company deserves more professionalism.

The process started with a 30-minute phone call with the recruiter. We talked about the company, what they're looking for, and they went over my resume. I was asked some basic definition-style questions like 'What is .......'. After that, there was a 30-minute call with a senior software engineer manager. This was more in-depth, covering my resume and experience, and included a few technical questions. The final stage was a 2-hour onsite interview. This mainly consisted of two separate 40-minute interviews with a total of 4 engineers. We mostly discussed my resume, experience, and the technologies I've used, and they asked questions related to that. A whiteboard question is also expected. The overall experience was pleasant and everyone was friendly. It wasn't overly complicated, but it's important to be well-versed in your resume and experience.
