I had a phone call with HR to go over the position, then a phone call with the team lead to discuss myself and recent projects. Finally, I had a take-home assignment in React that was supposed to take about 4 hours.

They offered a take-home project, which I opted for. It sounded difficult but was actually quite straightforward. I spent about 30 minutes on the most challenging part and then another 2-3 hours to complete the rest and finalize it. They gave positive feedback, leading to an onsite interview. The office environment felt a bit depressing, cramped, and dim. The first onsite session was with the hiring manager. We worked on extending the take-home project with more features. It was generally easy, but I found it frustrating that the hiring manager seemed uninterested, didn't really watch my work, and didn't allow time for my questions about the role. The next interview was with a principal engineer who was described as 'rough around the edges.' He asked open-ended questions like 'What do you want?' and then disagreed with my responses, which was annoying. The remaining interviews were standard. It's ironic that their health benefits and pay aren't very good, given their industry. I received a form rejection the following day.

I usually don't leave reviews but after seeing others mention it takes over a day, I figured I'd share my experience. I completed the assignment and was rejected without any feedback, which I found very unprofessional. Since candidates spend a lot of time on these assignments, I think providing more technical feedback than just 'You are not selected for the next round by HR' would be much better.
