First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Talend.
Sales Development Representative
This interview process was unique because I went through it twice, which I think is great because it shows how hard Talend works to find people they believe will fit their team. It started with typical introductory calls with a recruiter, then I was connected with senior sales team members. After that, I had a mock call with the SVP of Sales and others, followed by a mock negotiation. My recruiter prepped me a lot on what to say and expect. Unfortunately, my first interview process ended without an offer due to internal restructuring. However, my recruiter assured me I was a priority for the future and set up a call with the team's new manager to make sure I was on his radar early. Although I was disappointed, I trusted my recruiter when they said my correspondence with Talend wasn't over. A month later, I started the process again and was fortunate enough to get a job offer. As I mentioned, the effort Talend put into my interview process proved to me they were looking for the right people. It allows them to be more invested in their employees than any other company I've worked for. I genuinely consider myself fortunate for this opportunity.
- Can you tell me about your personality?
- What's your approach to sales?
- How do you handle sales negotiations?
Sales Development Representative
My first interview was a casual chat with the VP and director of sales, where we talked about my background, education, and why I'm interested in sales. They mentioned the role wasn't open yet but they were looking for potential candidates. I got to know more about the role and if it was a good fit for me. They said they'd be in touch when they were ready to hire. Then, I had an onsite interview at their new office. I briefly chatted with the director again before meeting the whole sales team for an open discussion about the role. I also asked them questions, which was a great way to see who I'd be working with.
- What is your understanding of big data?
Sales Development Representative
I had two initial phone interviews, one with the sales recruiter and then the hiring manager. After that, I went into the office for an in-person interview where they asked basic behavioral questions and had me do two role plays. It was a good experience, everyone was nice and helpful.
