I had a remote interview with a member of the US team who had previously worked in the UK. It was a pretty standard interview, a mix of personal, experience, and competency-based questions, lasting about an hour. I was told I passed that stage and would hear about the next steps within a week. After 23 days with no update, I contacted HR and was informed the job had been filled by an internal candidate. While I don't have an issue with the outcome, it was unacceptable to have to chase for this information, especially after being told I was progressing. The communication and transparency throughout the process were disappointing and could have been much better.

The interview process involved typical questions about my goals, strengths, and weaknesses. Even without prior experience, I was hired as a manager. The GM was 15 minutes late for the interview but was very positive and didn't interrupt me. He asked about what I liked most about my previous job (social interactions), least (lack of resources), and why I was leaving (hours). I used the interview to assess the boss, asking about his management style and how he handles conflicts with customers and coworkers.

They told me I'd have an interview, but instead, I had to do a trial shift that was about 15-20 minutes. You should really double-check. I didn't have a formal interview after I was hired, but people who were hired after me were asked about their past experience, mostly their availability, and then one good thing about themselves and one bad thing. It was very straightforward.
