Technical Support Engineer
I sent in my resume and got an automated reply. Then, I got another automated response, this time with a name, but I was told it wasn't a real person. This was basically a mass invite to pick a time slot from a list. Not the best start. But, I decided to go ahead with it anyway. When I got there, there were other people waiting. The first person I talked to explained the job and the pay. We both realized I was overqualified, but they said if I did well in the interview, something good might come of it. I decided to continue, which in hindsight wasn't the best move. I breezed through all the stages. Then, I met the Support Manager who told me his team grew from 20 to over 100 people in two years, which seemed a lot for the company size. He said I was highly qualified and would be a great fit, and that HR would contact me soon. I called this 'blowing rainbows'. I sent a thank you email the next morning. After four days with no response, I sent another follow-up and still heard nothing. After eight days, I sent a final email and still no reply. Nine days after the interview process, I got a generic form email from a Sales Recruiter saying they were moving in a different direction. For such a well-known company, the whole experience was surprising, disappointing, and eye-opening. It seems like they've lost touch with how to treat people, which could hurt them in the long run.

Technical Support Engineer
The hiring process took about 3 hours. First, I spoke with a recruiter about the job, pay, and benefits, and we clarified some things on my resume. Then there was a communications test, probably to see how well I communicate. After that, I did a quick troubleshooting scenario, which was fun. Next was a technical test, to see if I really know what I think I know. Finally, there was a short interview for culture fit with a team manager. Overall, it was pretty fun.
