First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tableau Software.
Intern
I applied online in late April and heard back from an HR recruiter in Seattle the next day about scheduling a quick phone screen. They set up a call for the following day with the department head in Palo Alto, which lasted about 20-30 minutes. After that, I had a 1.5-hour video chat with three people I'd be working with, split into 30-minute segments each. They asked standard questions, and it felt more like a chat than an interview. The recruiter emailed the day after that with an update and called later to offer me the position. The whole process, from applying to getting the offer, was done in under two weeks.

Intern
I had an on-site technical interview. First, I chatted with a recruiter who asked me some questions about linked lists, and then they scheduled me for an interview the next day. After that, I met with another recruiter to go over general information, and then I had a technical interview with an engineer.
- Can you write a function that takes in strings of numbers and returns only the unique inputs in the order they were first provided?
Intern
Applied at school career fair, heard back about a week or so later. Talked with a recruiter about the internship details and the process. Had 2 technical interviews that were 45 minutes each after the first call, and a third technical interview that was an hour long a week later. Soon after receiving positive feedback from my interviews, I was given an offer.
