First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at System Pavers.
Sales Representative
I first talked to HR on Zoom. Then about a week later, I went in person to interview with the Sales leader. I got to check out the showroom and meet some other people who work there.
- Can you tell me about your sales experience and how you handle objections?
Sales
It was a very serious and thorough interview process. They asked a lot of questions about my work habits and past experience. They explained the pay structure and the typical number of leads a sales rep gets monthly. They also detailed what System Pavers is specifically looking for in a sales representative and discussed the company's history.
- What is your strategy for handling a customer who asks to consider their decision?
- How would you approach a customer that wants time to think about it?
Outside Sales Representative
A recruiter reached out via email and then phone. I then had an interview with a sales manager who questioned me intensely for 45 minutes. This is a 'hunter' type role, and all sales employees are middle-aged, 'used car salesman' types. This job is all about hard sales numbers, and if you don't have them, you won't get hired. The manager asked if I could last up to 4 months in training and initial sales without income, so prepare to have savings. The lowest earner in sales made $1500 last month, and the top earner made $43000. If you can easily charm your way into the company's and your client's hearts, this job is for you.
- Were there any particularly difficult questions asked?
- If you don't automatically fit into their preconceived company culture in appearance and experience, will they work hard to find reasons not to hire you, and does this manifest in repeated questions designed to segue into a walk out the door?
