Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sysco.
Accountant
The interview process was efficient and swift. It primarily involved technical questions, but there was also an emphasis on assessing cultural fit within the company. I interviewed with the accountants and the manager of the division, who all came across as approachable and open-minded individuals.
- Could you tell me about your understanding of leases and IFRS16?
Accountant
I interviewed for an accounting position. The first interview was with HR, and the second was with two managers, one of whom was the head of accounting. I was told a decision would be made within two weeks, even though there were only two candidates, including myself. After 2.5 weeks with no word, I called HR and found out they were canceling the internship program. They apologized, but my time was already wasted.
- Tell me about working in a team.
- How do you handle your time?
- How do you keep things organized?
Accounts Receivable
I had a phone interview with a recruiter from the main office in Texas. Then, she sent my resume to the local office to set up an in-person interview with the manager and the head of the accounting department. They were both really nice and open. It was a behavioral interview for both parts. They said they'd let me know about the next steps via the recruiter, but I just got an email saying they hired someone else.
- Can you share an instance where you dealt with a challenging customer?
- Describe a situation where you had multiple tasks and had to prioritize.
- Tell me about your previous role and how you managed different aspects of it.
