Had an initial interview, then a technical interview, and finally a full day on-site interview. I was told I'd hear back by the end of the week, but they just ghosted me. This happened to other candidates too who applied but didn't get an offer. It's basic courtesy to at least send a rejection email when you make promises and don't follow through.

I filled out the generic online form to apply and got an automated response. A few days later, I received an automated email about a screening interview with a recruiter. This was a phone call that lasted about 20 minutes. The recruiter then passed me off to the hiring manager and their manager, who I interviewed with a week later for 30-45 minutes. They mentioned the recruiter would contact me to set up a technical/culture interview for the following week. I made sure to follow up after each step. Then, I was ghosted for several weeks. I reached out and followed up again, only to be ghosted for longer. After another follow-up, a few days later, I got a generic rejection email stating I wasn't moving forward. I asked for feedback, and the recruiter just said I wasn't a good experience fit, even though I have a PhD and 10 years of experience in a very specific specialty for an early-mid career role. I asked for more details, and the recruiter repeated the same thing – not a good fit. The hiring manager or their team didn't provide any further details.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

First I had a recruiter call, they wanted to see my resume and if I was a good fit. Then a few days later, I had a second phone call, this time with the hiring manager. It was a technical interview asking about my experiences and how they related to the job. Because of the holidays, the in-person interview was delayed, but they let me know it was going to happen. When I got to the campus, I had to do a 40-minute presentation for the team about my education and experiences, focusing on what I could bring to them. After that, they had an all-day interview schedule with me, meeting with different pairs of team members who asked a lot of behavioral questions.
