Research Associate
The interview process for this role started with recruiter call screening, then moved onto culture fit and teamwork discussions, followed by a technical skills assessment and a background check. There was a panel interview and an initial onboarding verification, and then an offer was made. They also mentioned final reference checks and submitting some training materials.
- Can you tell me why you are interested in working for this company?
Software Engineer
So I was interviewing for an entry-level role, but I didn't even make it past the phone interview. The questions they asked were way harder than what you'd expect for an entry-level job. They wanted experience with Java, C++, JavaScript, MongoDB, Angular, Hadoop, AWS, and some other stuff I can't even remember. This job asked for 0-3 years of programming experience, but it felt like they were looking for someone with mid- to senior-level skills but only wanted to pay entry-level wages.
- Are you familiar with Java?
- Do you have experience with C++?
- Can you tell me about your JavaScript knowledge?
Java Developer
I had an introductory phone call with a recruiter from SynergisticIT. They explained their business, the training they offer, and the placement process post-training. The recruiter was friendly but somewhat difficult to understand and quite persistent, even when I expressed disinterest. The training program's location in the Bay Area and their placement strategy around the Bay Area sounded appealing. However, the $25k training fee is a significant drawback, especially since other companies with similar models don't charge for training and actually pay trainees.
- Given the training cost, what makes you hesitant about our program?
Data Analyst
The interview process was kinda misleading. They made the role sound good at first, but as I went through the steps, it became obvious their real intentions weren't clear. What was really worrying was finding out they have a lot of people working for free, which they never mentioned when recruiting. This felt really unethical to me, like they were taking advantage and it wasn't what they first said.
- Will you work unpaid for the first 3 months?
