Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Synchrony.
Marketing
The interview process was pretty simple. First, I had a chat with HR. Then, there was a panel interview with the hiring manager and some future colleagues. I felt well-prepared and didn't find it tough. They had some technical issues, like their screens freezing, since interviews aren't in person. They initially mentioned a decision timeline after Labor Day but sped things up because they were already planning to promote someone internally. It felt like a waste of everyone's time.

Marketing
You should be ready to share examples of your successes, backed by data. You might interview with different people from various teams. Just hang in there, this stuff can take a while.
- Can you share an instance where you juggled several projects simultaneously, and describe your management approach?
- What methods do you employ for prioritizing when dealing with multiple projects?
Marketing
A recruiter emailed me about a role, I applied, and then HR set up a meeting with the hiring manager. The first interview with the hiring manager was okay, but the questions were a bit strange and it seemed like they weren't totally clear on the job duties since it was a new position. I then interviewed with two VPs, though I wasn't sure why since they only seemed loosely connected to the team. After those three interviews, I got an automated rejection email. It felt unprofessional to go through three interviews and not get a direct rejection after talking with HR. The whole process seemed disorganized since they interviewed me for the role but couldn't even give a specific reason why I wasn't a fit, even though their HR department reached out. Also, we never discussed salary or benefits, which would have been good to know earlier on.
- Which media character best represents your current job and why?
- If you could choose a media character to represent your ideal job, who would it be and why?
