Got a call from the internal recruiter at Symphony to chat about the company, the role, my background, and my general vibe. The recruiter was super helpful and explained the unique technical challenges and opportunities really well. They sent my CV to the DevOps team. Then, I had a call with US-based management, one from NY and one from CA. This second interview went into more technical depth about workloads, team structure, and the long-term strategy. The third round was an onsite interview at the London office, right by Bank station. A DevOps engineer met me and told me all about the team, the role, and the company. We had technical discussions covering various infrastructure, DevOps, and cloud topics. After that, there were 4 more calls, about 45 minutes each, with US-based engineers and managers. Overall, it was a really good experience. Since most interviewers were in the US, the recruiters were cool with late afternoon calls, which worked out with my day job. My advice: Brush up on your Linux, Networks, command-line troubleshooting tools, understand Python, and most importantly, show genuine enthusiasm for the role.

I had two phone calls. First with the hiring manager, who is the EMEA DevOps lead. They asked strange questions and kept interrupting me, not even listening to my answers. It was truly the worst interview experience I've had in my 18 years in IT.

A recruiter from Symphony contacted me on LinkedIn about the role. Then, I had a phone interview with one of their recruiters. After that, she set up a phone screening with the hiring manager. We talked about my current job and the role/company. Then, I had an on-site interview in NYC, but I couldn't make it last minute, so they let me do it all via Skype. The video interviews were more technical, and I did a coding exercise. After that, I had to go to NYC to meet the hiring manager in person. We got coffee, talked about the role, and their AWS architecture. I expensed my travel, and they sent the check quickly. That same day, the recruiter called with a verbal offer. A few days later, the hiring manager called with the offer details. I declined after a few days because I didn't want to move to NYC. Overall, it was a great experience with everyone at Symphony; they were knowledgeable, polite, and quick.
