Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SXSW.
Intern
My interview was quick and easy. The interviewer was nice and didn't ask hard questions. They were very open to what I had to say, and the conversation went really smoothly. It was pretty standard overall, and I had a really good experience.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What makes you a suitable candidate for this position?
- Tell me about your personal interests and how they connect to the job.
Intern
After applying online, they will reach out and schedule an interview. This interview can be in person or over Skype, depending on the department. The Skype interview is about 30 minutes long and includes various "Give me a time when..." questions. They will also discuss the intern role and ask if you are prepared to work long hours, particularly during the festival season. It seems like there was only one round of interviews.
- Tell me about a time when a group project you were involved in did not go as planned.
Intern
The interview took about half an hour and there were three interviewers. About 15 questions were asked. It's a good idea to prepare your own questions to ask them. You should know about SXSW and be ready to talk about it.
- What superpower would you choose if you were a superhero?
