Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Swvl.
Software Engineer
It was a good experience overall. The interviewer was nice, but it was challenging because I had to solve two problems live in front of them, which added some pressure. However, it turned out okay. The problems weren't too difficult, and they were open to discussing my approach and thoughts.
- I had live coding interviews.
- I had a system design interview.
- I had a culture fit interview.
Software Engineer
The process was really smooth. I got an email from HR to start. The interviews took about 2-3 weeks. First was the HR interview with common questions like 'how did you handle this situation?'. Second was the squad fit interview, mostly HR and some process questions. The last one was a technical interview, lasting an hour. It had 2 problem-solving questions and a system design question. Then they gave me the offer.
- Tell me about a time you had a conflict with your manager and how you managed it.
- Were there ever any conflicts with your manager at work, and if so, how did you manage it?
Software Engineer
I applied via the company's website. A few weeks later, I was sent a coding assignment directly, without any initial call or screening. I spent about 4-5 hours on it, putting in my best effort. I'm experienced in vehicle routing optimization and was confident about my submission. However, after a week, I received a standard rejection email. It felt like a waste of my time.
- Can you describe your approach to the coding assignment involving vehicle routing?
- What research did you conduct related to vehicle routing?
