It was a lengthy and challenging process. There were several steps involved, such as personality and intelligence tests, phone screenings, and multiple in-person interviews with various mid-level managers. They did cover travel expenses for the in-person interviews for those who progressed far enough.

So when I applied for this job, right at the start, it said in bold that Sweetwater is a drug-free workplace and everyone has to take a drug test, including for marijuana, before getting an offer. This worried me because I use medical marijuana where I live. I asked about it, and the interviewer kind of gaslit me, saying they don't test for marijuana and that I must have misread it. Then I asked about commission, and the interviewer said that wasn't the case for the Category Advisor role and asked me what I liked about that position. I said I was confused because I thought I applied for a Sales Engineer job. The interviewer then said I did apply for sales. Another big red flag was that the interviewer seemed to want my complete dedication to the company. It's a job, not a whole life, and a lot of employers mess this up. You pay me, that's it. We don't owe companies everything. Honestly, I don't think they'll offer me the job, but I'd probably decline if they did anyway. Something feels off about this company; it feels like they want slaves who will give their entire lives to them.

Had a quick phone chat about my experience and knowledge. Started with a campus tour and a rundown of the company's history. Then, I tackled a lengthy 170-question test that took about 2 hours. The expectation is that you won't ace it, so don't worry if you don't get a lot of it right. Afterwards, I had lunch with some of the team members – the cafeteria was really good. Post-lunch, I did a mock session with what seemed like a future lead. Some folks do this part over the phone before flying out. Then, I answered questions designed to give them a better sense of my personality. Stuff like what drives me, what brings me down, and what might lead to me not succeeding at Sweetwater Uni. Finally, I had a drug test (excluding THC) and then got a job offer. Typically, it takes a day to a week for an offer, so don't stress if it's not immediate.
