Behavioral Technical Case Presentation

Applied on 12/08/2024 and immediately did the on-demand screening questions, getting an interview scheduled within 15 minutes. The interview was set for 12/10/2024 at 8:45 am, but the interviewer didn't show up. I reached out to my Talent Acquisition contact, who apologized and arranged for another interview at 2:00 pm the same day, which worked out since I was available. Two managers from different units interviewed me. They were very pleasant and asked behavioral and situational questions, including prioritization. The interview concluded with a case study where I was shown available units and asked to rank my top three preferences. Two days later, a manager from one of my preferred units called and extended a verbal offer. I'm now waiting for the official e-offer.

I applied online as an experienced RN and heard back about 4 weeks later to schedule a phone interview for the following week. I left work early to prepare for the call, only to find out HR had called 30 minutes prior and left a voicemail. I called back immediately but it went to voicemail, so I left a message. The scheduled interview time passed, and I emailed to reschedule. HR finally got back to me the next business day and scheduled me for another week and a half out. I confirmed the new time the day before, and this time HR called at the correct time. She asked about my experience, posed 3 behavioral questions, and then I asked questions, which she said I'd need to address in an in-person interview. She mentioned I'd be forwarded to the hiring manager if qualified, but the in-person interview would be another week and a half away. She also informed me about a 10-panel drug screen including nicotine and alcohol, which seemed excessive. Ultimately, I decided against pursuing the role due to the disorganization, lack of accountability, and intrusive drug testing.

The 40-minute 1:1 phone interview I had with Swedish Medical a few weeks ago was thorough and really showed that the company is a top hospital in North America. They have high hiring standards for nurses, and even though I didn't get the job I wanted, the experience helped me improve my interview and communication skills for the future. It was a good experience overall.
