It was a disappointing interview process. I first spoke with the hiring manager over the phone, and that conversation went well. Then, I was scheduled for an in-person interview with a strict dress code, which I adhered to by purchasing dark jeans and non-slip shoes. They mentioned it would be a working interview. I successfully completed that round but felt uneasy afterward. The subsequent interview was a Zoom call with the COO. He seemed to think the straightforward job was beyond my capabilities and treated it as if it were complex, even though I had handled more challenging roles earlier in my career. He also acted as if I had no experience managing a bakery for 5 years or any knowledge about cakes, despite my associate degree in baking and pastry. I found the whole experience humiliating. I was ultimately rejected over the phone.

The job started with an online application that requested a video submission. Following that, there was a phone call interview. There were also a few email and text exchanges. They were looking for someone to work full-time. It seems like a role where everyone needs to pitch in. I wasn't keen on working holidays, which they said is a requirement.

After applying on Indeed.com, I got a call for a quick phone interview about my resume about a week later. Then, I went to the bakery for a 30-45 minute face-to-face chat (situational questions/experience), followed by a 2-hour stage where I had to execute recipes. They mentioned that more interviews were happening that week, and a decision would be made by Friday. On Friday, I was asked to come in the next day for a second interview with the Head Baker's boss, which was mostly about personality/experience with some situational questions. I was told I'd hear back within 48 hours. After they requested another reference, I got the job offer from SusieCakes!

I applied and a few days later I got a call from the local GM at one of the stores and she asked me a few questions then she wanted to meet me in person, set that up and had a 1:1 interview which took about 35-40 mins, and a few days after that the GM brought me into one of the stores to see how I did in the storefront, and soon after that I got a call back with an offer! It was overall a very easy process, let me not fail to mention that the GM who interviewed me was so lovely and made the process and experience very easy.
