Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview process was great and I always knew what was next. It started with a 3-interview process. The first was a phone screen with my direct supervisor where he reviewed my resume and asked about me. Then, 3 days later, I had a face-to-face interview at their office with the same supervisor. This interview was more in-depth, with situational questions that needed essay-like answers, along with standard strength/weakness questions. He also described the role and what he was looking for. I got an email the same day to set up the final interview, which was 4 days later. The final interview involved meeting with another department manager, followed by a peer interview, lasting about 2 hours in total. The department manager used questions from my hiring manager and we discussed company culture and challenges. After that, two current account managers joined to discuss the position and company, which really sold me on the company. The department manager called me that same day to offer me the position, including salary and start date, and told me I'd receive a formal offer letter soon. No silly quizzes, just a few tough questions.

I reached out to the president via email with my resume and expressed interest. He responded quickly and we scheduled a meeting for Monday at 10:30 AM. I got there at 10:20 AM but he didn't show up until 11:00 AM. He took me to his office and acted surprised that I was taking online classes. He asked if I knew it was a full-time job and told me I couldn't manage full-time work and two online courses. He said I was overqualified. The interview ended about 40 seconds after it started. I barely spoke. I was so excited about this company and wanted to build my career there, but I'm glad I found out what it's like now. I had read reviews beforehand and considered cancelling, but went anyway. It might be entertaining to go for the interview, but think twice before accepting an offer.

After emailing my resume, I received a call or email from the Executive Admin to schedule a face-to-face interview. The interview lasted about 2 and a half hours and involved meeting with 4 different employees. During the interview, I gathered that the company expects employees to work late hours. They also expect you to travel cheaply and stay in inexpensive motels, possibly sharing rooms with other people. At trade shows, you're expected to work 10 consecutive days for 12 hours each day, standing the entire time. Despite being a large company, you're still required to help set up and dismantle a huge showroom. I believe they could afford to hire a service for this so employees could focus on customers and sales. I'm not opposed to hard work, but I expect fair compensation and incentives for it. The work environment is described as an open office, possibly cramped, with everyone close together and no privacy. Perks seem minimal, perhaps just wearing jeans to work. I'm also unsure if the salary is competitive. They seem to have too many employees for their current warehouse space, and parking is a significant problem. There's a possibility they'll relocate in about two years, but the current city isn't ideal for living or working, especially if you don't have a family. Managers are expected to be away from home for extended periods, suggesting this role might not be suitable for someone with a family or those who prefer to be home more often.
