A few months ago I had an interview with my future Team Lead. I was so stressed about it. I read a lot about the company and doubted whether I understood everything clearly. But instead of asking a lot of typical questions, the lead recruiter started telling me about company's product, benefits, what they have achieved so far and what their goals are for the near future. That was really interesting. I realised this is a great opportunity for me to grow professionally and personally, and to improve my English. After a few months, I haven't changed my mind. This is really a great place to work and develop important professional and personal skills.

So I had an interview with a recruiter first. Then, they sent me a Figma file with four tasks. I had a limited time to create a user interface and user experience for their app, using their branding, colors, and fonts. The briefings were complicated, and one hour for each task isn't enough time because good UX needs research, wireframing, testing, and a few concepts to pick the best one. All you can really do in an hour is rush the UI part. To my surprise, they didn't just ask me to redesign some pages, but to create missing ones. This makes me think they just use these "job interviews" as free consulting. In the end, I spent 5 hours creating pages for them. I was supposed to get paid, and I even signed a contract, but after they rejected my application, they just vanished. It's been a month, and they still don't reply to my emails, so I guess I'll never get paid. Designers, don't waste your time, it's a scam.

I was reached out to on LinkedIn by a recruiter about my skills being a good match for an open role. I moved forward and had a first interview. Towards the end, I was asked if I could do a test. I said yes and asked if it was paid. The interviewer didn't know and said they'd find out. After almost a week with no reply, I reached out to the main recruiter and withdrew from the process. My advice to the hiring team is that while you're evaluating candidates, candidates are also evaluating you. Since communication and collaboration are crucial in my role as a designer, if you can't get a response on a basic recruitment question within a week, there must be communication issues within your organization.
