Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Super Micro Computer, Inc. (Supermicro).
Hardware Design Engineer
Applied on 8/26. Recruiter contacted me on 9/4 for an interview, and I interviewed on 9/6. I spoke with 3 managers; 2 of them seemed uninterested. We discussed the company and projects, and I was asked to identify schematic symbols. They said they'd update me in 2-3 weeks, but I saw I was rejected on the portal a few hours later.
- Can you explain the pins for UART and SPI?
- Identify these schematic symbols.
Hardware Engineer
It's a pretty formal process. First, they asked me about what I know about the company and the role itself. Then, there were a lot of technical questions based on my resume, and also some basic knowledge from school was covered. Each interviewer usually spends about 30 minutes.
- Can you tell me about your understanding of our company?
- What are your thoughts on the responsibilities of this role?
- We'd like to ask some technical questions related to your resume.
Hardware Engineer
Had a phone call with an employee. They asked me some basic questions about my resume and my knowledge. We also discussed the role's responsibilities, expectations, daily tasks, and the company culture.
- Could you please state your name?
