Network Engineer
I was contacted for one job role but ended up interviewing for a completely different one. This other role required working different hours and was in a different timezone, which I wasn't comfortable with. The interview itself was intense, with the entire team of 5 interviewers firing questions at me. Midway through, they mentioned it was for a role that required working nights. After the interview, I didn't receive any feedback, and I had to follow up a month later to find out I wasn't selected.
- Can you answer some technical questions?
- Can you answer some analytical questions?
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Network Engineer
The interview I was on was for an entry-level position, so the questions were pretty basic, covering whatever was on the job description and in my resume. Some questions were from routing, switching, firewall, and subnetting.
- Could you elaborate on routing concepts?
- What do you know about switching?
- Tell me about firewalls.
Network Engineer
I applied online. The first step was a phone screening where they asked basic networking stuff like TCP/IP, frames vs packets, and Layer-1. The person I talked to also answered my questions about the job. Then, I had a face-to-face interview that focused on routing and switching, specifically BGP, OSPF, and VLANs. They also asked about packet flow through L2 and L3 devices, and a bit about IPSec and GRE VPNs. Overall, it was a good experience.
- Can you tell me about BGP, OSPF, and VLANs?
- What are your thoughts on BGP, OSPF, and VLANs?
- I'd like to discuss BGP, OSPF, and VLANs.
