Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Suncorp Group.
Software Engineer Intern
First, there was a cognitive test, then a virtual interview, and a 10-minute phone screening. If you passed that, they'd invite you to an online assessment centre. The assessment centre was mostly behavioural stuff, and they usually sent out offers about a week after the interview.
- Could you tell me about your software experience?
Software Engineer
The first round involved discussing my past work and then answering some theory questions about CS subjects and the tech stack I'm familiar with. It felt pretty informal with two panelists asking questions. I think there are about 2 or 3 more rounds after this one.
- Can you explain the four pillars of OOP?
Software Engineer
I had an interview on Microsoft Teams. They told me about a second round with the technical architect to talk about the work. They asked about my notice period and how many days I'd work from the office. I felt good about the job because they seemed positive. The status is 'Interview 1 invitation accepted,' but I haven't heard back in over two weeks. I guess they're still interviewing others, or maybe they found someone better. I'll stay optimistic until the status changes.
- Tell me about a challenging problem you solved.
- Describe your approach when you encounter a problem you cannot solve.
